Those Eyes of Hers

Twin points of light
Blinking as one
With the ferocity of the sun
Can’t stare at them for long else…

Can those eyelashes conceal the intent,
Or aid the intent to conceal?
Can beauty deceive?
Or at least alter ones attention?

Cos those eyes of hers do speak
As they bat merrily like the kiwi’s wings
Do they want you to hear what’s said?
Or just to know something was said?

Alluringly, very much so
They open as windows to the soul
A portal to the many secrets within
Revealed with every gaze.

Of feelings covered with layers of deceit
Though pretense seems a good cover, the truth finds its way out
Denial doesn’t make it all go away,
It only confirms that you have someting to say.

Wannabe? Don’t! 2

If you read d first part, u will find it a little sketchy, dat was largely introductory and here comes the main content.
Being yourself is one thing,
Being the best of yourself that ever was and ever can be(last i checked, there is only 1 of you). So it means producing a better version of you ev’ryday conciously. Its a process and nobody can enter a car factory and ask why all the parts of a car are scattered. What matters is the finished product- the car! So also as humans, its only when you can say that all that needs to be done has been done and you are a complete product can you accept condemnation from anybody. And that time is never coming(after death, we are transformed, so it doesnt matter) cos we are transformed in to the image of God as we gaze with open hearts into the mirror(His word) until we become Gods, dat day isnt coming and we aint becoming Gods until we become liberated from the bounds of humanity. As long as we are alive, there is a serious and urgent need to get better daily. To be continued.. Again abi? Dnt mind me. Will do soon

Wannabe? Don’t! 1

Americans are perhaps the best users of diction, their word forms are wonderful(if not intriguing). The way they mould words and form new words that are all too expressive.”wannabe”! Etymologically, it can be split into two, ‘wanna’ and ‘be’. ‘Wanna on the other hand is another example of american ingenuity with words and can also be split into ‘want’ and ‘to’. Therefore, wannabe means ‘want to be’.
In this part of the world(Nigeria), we are more direct with our use of words, you hear words like ‘copycat’. The two ‘words’ mean basically the same thing. A wannabe simply is someone who wants to be either something he/she is not or somebody else.
A friend of mine’s quatrain comes to mind at this present time

“Of a sort, man is a fool
When its cool, he wants it hot
When its hot, he wants it cool
Always wanting what is not.(DIADEM)

The major sign of someone who doesn’t know himself/herself is variableness and fickleness of the highest order. Fashion magazines and celebrities become the template for their lives, chained to the unabating varying desires of society. Too busy conforming to find meaning to your existence and giving the real you expression!
Whats wrong with reading fashion mags n all u may ask, but come to think of it. I read them too, but i still live my life by my own rules and make myself happy doing so.
Let me chip in something here, there is a difference between becoming a better person and becoming a ‘wannabe’. Its the template that makes the difference. Are you building your life on the life of another person? Dos and don’ts? Likes and dislikes? Even to the point of footsteps. (can u imagine). You get so intrigued by the whole prospect of being known as someone’s look alike and forget that you are a person also. With two eyes, legs etc. Your brain is the same as theirs, why not use it, make yourself better and even become a reference point yourself.

TO BE CONTINUED…
